Ohio State flag was adopted in 1902. Ohio’s flag is the only odd shaped, non-rectangular flag in the country.It is called a swallowtail or burgee-shaped flag. The swallowtail was designed in 1901 by John Eisenmann for the Pan-American Exposition. The “O” on the left of the flag represents the “O” in Ohi and the 17 stars represent the state being the 17th to enter the nation.
